Description
The Triangulum Galaxy, or Messier 33, is one of the three largest galaxies in our Local Group. Hubble stitched together 54 fields of view to create this highly detailed portrait of its spiral structure.
The mosaic resolves nearly 25 million individual stars and spans about 19,400 light-years. Bright blue regions of active star formation, including NGC 604, punctuate the galaxy’s well-ordered arms.
