Description
NGC 1300 is a classic barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Eridanus. Its graceful arms begin at the ends of a long central bar rather than curling directly from the nucleus.
Hubble resolves blue clusters of young stars, pink clouds of active star formation, and dark dust lanes throughout the disk and bar. At the center, the bar contains a tightly wound spiral structure of its own.
