Description
Arp 273, often nicknamed “The Rose,” captures two galaxies shaped by a close gravitational encounter. Located roughly 300 million light-years away in the constellation Andromeda, the pair forms one of the most graceful compositions photographed by the Hubble Space Telescope.
The larger galaxy, UGC 1810, has been drawn into a sweeping spiral that resembles the petals of a rose. Below it, the smaller UGC 1813 appears like a slender stem. Hubble’s detailed view reveals glowing galactic cores, delicate lanes of cosmic dust, and brilliant blue regions where clusters of young stars are forming.
Set against the deep blackness of space, the warm golden centers and cool blue spiral arms give this artwork an elegant presence without overwhelming a room. Its balanced composition works especially well in a living space, office, study, or astronomy-themed collection.
