Description

The Cosmic Cliffs in the Carina Nebula reveal the edge of a vast cavity within NGC 3324, a young star-forming region about 7,600 light-years from Earth. Webb’s near-infrared view transforms gas and dust into a luminous landscape of ridges, peaks, and stellar light.

Intense ultraviolet radiation and winds from massive young stars have carved the cavern above the apparent cliffs. Along the glowing wall, jets and cavities mark the activity of newborn stars that were hidden in earlier visible-light views.

Produced from the official 14,575 × 8,441 master, every offered paper, framed-and-matted, and stretched-canvas size remains above 300 PPI. The selected panoramic formats use restrained centered crops that preserve the scene’s sweeping character.
