Andromeda Galaxy (M31) fills this sweeping Hubble panorama with a dense tapestry of stars, dark dust lanes, and luminous star-forming regions. Located approximately 2.5 million light-years away, Andromeda is our nearest large galactic neighbor, and this detailed view resolves more than 100 million individual stars within a portion of its disk.
The mosaic was assembled from 7,398 exposures captured across 411 Hubble pointings between July 2010 and October 2013. Created through the Panchromatic Hubble Andromeda Treasury (PHAT) program, the natural-color view traces the galaxy from its bright central bulge through layered bands of stars and dust toward its sparser outer disk.
Produced from NASA’s full-resolution 17,384 × 5,558 master image, each available size preserves the original ultra-wide composition without cropping and exceeds Space Art Studio’s 300-PPI quality standard. Because the approved framed-and-matted and stretched-canvas proportions would remove a substantial portion of the panorama, this artwork is offered exclusively as a fine art paper print.
