Description

The Southern Ring Nebula, or NGC 3132, is a planetary nebula formed by a dying star shedding layers of gas and dust. Webb’s NIRCam view resolves delicate shells, radiating structures, and the bright stars at the nebula’s center.

The seemingly smooth oval contains bubbles, filaments, and overlapping arcs created during repeated episodes of stellar mass loss. Near-infrared light also reveals a dense field of distant stars and galaxies beyond the expanding nebula.

Produced from NASA’s official 4,833 × 4,501 print master, every available square paper and framed-and-matted size remains above 300 PPI. No stretched-canvas option is included because the approved canvas size would fall below the standard.
