Description

Webb’s First Deep Field presents galaxy cluster SMACS 0723 as it appeared about 4.6 billion years ago. The cluster’s combined mass acts as a gravitational lens, magnifying and distorting the light of galaxies much farther behind it.

Webb’s NIRCam assembled this view from images at several infrared wavelengths, revealing sharp foreground stars, luminous cluster members, and faint background galaxies whose light has traveled for billions of years.

Produced from NASA’s official 4,537 × 4,630 print master, every available square paper and framed-and-matted size remains above 300 PPI. No stretched-canvas option is included because the approved canvas size would fall below the standard.
