Description

Ready for a Close Up reveals the heavily cratered eastern edge of the South Pole-Aitken basin during the Artemis II lunar flyby. The shadowed terminator crosses the top of the frame, drawing attention to the density and variety of impacts preserved below.

South Pole-Aitken is the Moon’s largest and oldest known impact basin. This detailed perspective offers a glimpse into billions of years of lunar history, with overlapping craters and worn terrain recording successive events across the ancient surface.

Produced from NASA’s official 5,568 × 3,712 original, the paper and framed presentations preserve the native 3:2 composition. The 16 × 12-inch stretched canvas uses a restrained centered crop, and every available option remains above Space Art Studio’s 300-PPI quality standard.
