A Setting Earth places a distant Earth above the sharply detailed lunar surface during the Artemis II flyby. The photograph was made at 6:41 p.m. EDT, only three minutes before Orion passed behind the Moon and temporarily lost contact with Earth.
Cloud systems remain visible across Earth’s illuminated side while the dark hemisphere turns away from the Sun. Below, Ohm crater fills the foreground with terraced walls, a level floor, and central peaks produced by the rebound following its original impact.
