Description
The Helix Nebula, cataloged as NGC 7293, is a planetary nebula formed as a dying Sun-like star expelled its outer layers. Webb’s NIRCam resolves dense comet-like knots and layered structures throughout the expanding shell.
Infrared observations reveal cool molecular material alongside gas energized by the hot stellar remnant. The nebula’s broad, eye-like form gives the image an unusually direct and symmetrical presence.
Produced from NASA’s official 11,124 × 8,064 Webb master, every offered paper, framed-and-matted, and stretched-canvas size remains above 300 PPI with a restrained 3:2 crop.
